Onboarding Wizard

Walk through the 3-step onboarding wizard to set up your first property, guest guide, and house rules.


Overview

When you first sign up, STRProof walks you through a 3-step onboarding wizard. You can complete it in a few minutes and edit everything later from your dashboard.

Step 1: Property and Rooms

This is where you define your rental space.

Required fields:

  • Property name — a short name you and your guests will recognize (e.g. "Downtown Studio" or "Beach House")
  • Address — the full street address
  • Timezone — used for check-in/check-out timestamps on reports

Rooms:

  • Add each room as a separate entry (Living Room, Bedroom 1, Kitchen, etc.)
  • Each room gets its own photo set during guest check-in and checkout
  • You can rename or reorder rooms at any time

Click Next when you are done. You can always go back to edit later.

Step 2: Guest Guide

The guest guide appears when a guest opens their check-in link. It puts the most important information front and center.

Fields you can fill in:

  • WiFi network name and password
  • Access code (door lock, keypad, etc.)
  • Parking instructions
  • Directions to the property
  • Check-in notes (anything else the guest should know)

Sensitive fields like WiFi passwords and access codes use a tap to reveal pattern on the guest's screen. This prevents accidental sharing if someone looks over their shoulder.

All fields in this step are optional, but filling them in creates a better guest experience. Guests see this guide before they start the condition walkthrough.

Step 3: House Rules

Set the rules guests must acknowledge during check-in.

  • Add each rule as a separate line (e.g. "No smoking", "No pets", "Quiet hours 10pm - 8am")
  • Guests see all rules on a single screen and must tap I Accept before proceeding to the condition walkthrough
  • This acceptance is logged with a timestamp and included in the PDF report

You can leave this step blank if you prefer not to set rules initially.

Editing later

All three sections are editable from your dashboard at any time:

  • Property details and rooms — go to the property page and click Edit
  • Guest guide — open the property and click the Guide tab
  • House rules — open the property and click the Rules tab

Changes take effect immediately for future stays. Already-completed stays keep the version that was active at the time.
